HALLINGDAL - AURLANDSDALEN Trekking 2013
from Golsfjellet via Hemsedal, Bergsjø and Geilo to Aurland 
This year the Hallingdal tour can be combined with the Mountain to Fjord - Geilo to Aurland ( See below)
Guided tours from Hotel to Hotel including luggage transportation

Meeting point: Kamben Høyfjellshotel, N 3550 GOL
Program day by day
Friday: Arrival and dinner at 7 p.m. The guide will meet you and give important information at 8.30 p.m.

Saturday: Golgebirge - Hemsedal, 6 hrs – 920m – 1.149 – 850m
At breakfast every day of hiking, you make your own lunchpackage. The trekking starts above the treelevel (975m), heading to the top of Storefjell Mountain. Crossing on good pathes and small roads in open terrain with summerfarms and lakes to Hemsedal. Overnighting in Skogstad Hotel with dinner.

Sunday: Hemsedal – Bergsjø area, 6 hours. 1120-1280-1.050m
before we come to Flævassdamm.Transport to the alpine center to the start at lake Flævann. First using an old road, then on medium good pathes in quiet nature we pass "Midday-hill" and Døldesberget. passing summer cottages at Fagerdalen and Reinestølene with goats and cows, we end our tour through the easy landscape on small road until we meet good marked trails to Bergsjø. 2 nights in Rødungstøl Hotel.

Monday: Optional day
This day you choose the activities yourself: rent a bike or go horse riding or go hiking by yourself a shorter tour of the beautiful surroundings of the Hotel. You may also make a big tour to the top of Reineskarvet (1.722m/6 Std.) to get the fantastic view of the surroundings
Tuesday: Bergsjø area – Myrland, 7 hrs 1050 -1210 - 870m.
The hiking starts in a light terrainon the other side of lake Rødungen, passing summer farm areas and along lakes . From the small hills, we have the perfect view around us, facing the Skarveheimen mountains. Varied terrain and in the afternoon will be in a forest area before we end at the Myrland Tourist Center at the Rd50.
Wednesday: Myrland–Geilo, 7,5 hrs 870m – 740 - 1220m - 800 m.
Following the river down to lake Sudndal, and use the „Skislope“ to get to the foot of Hallingskarvet. We walk in beautiful terrain along the Hallingskarvet and follow the north side of the mountain chain, partly on very good trails till we meet the summer farms by Vestreim. Transport to Geilo and the pleasant Hotel Bardøla. 7,5

Thursday: Exploring the plateau of Hardangervidda 5–7 hrs
You will start with a hard uphill, but still a nice walk on good pathes and with a nice view of the big plateau between east and west Norway. Return via Hakkesetstølen where we have 5 o'clock tea and local pastry, to Geilo. Some wants to end the tour in Geilo, and they will get their diploma as a proof of your great efforts, others will continue the tour towards the Fjord.

Friday: Return or continue the tour
After breakfast you find your way back or continue the holiday in Norway. Other members want to continue to the Fjord, and follow the next program, "Mountain to the Fjord".

Friday: Train to Finse – hike across Hallingskarvet, 5,5 – 6,5 hrs
The program starts with the train from Geilo to Finse. Hiking from Finse up and across St.Paul (1.690m), and then to the DNT-lodge Geiterygghytta, and follow the old road to the west end of tunnel. Good paths, but it can be snow some parts. Pick-up by hotel bus to Østerbø Fjellstove for 2 nights. Dinner

Saturday: Aurlandsdalen – upper part, 3-4 hours
From Østerbø we take the local bus back to the west entrance of tunnel, and hike above the road tunnel and get down to the lodge Steinbergdalen. The last part will also have some uphill before we descend to Østerbø Fjellstove. Possible to go back by bus from Steinbergdalen. Dinner.

Sunday: Aurlandsdalen – lower part, 6-7 hrs
The most spectacular hiking part will be the narrow valley from Østerbø to Vassbygdi. You are practically alone in the nature. Local bus brings us to Aurland Fjord Hotel. Dinner.

Monday: Basic tour ends after breakfast. (Alternative to include the train return to Geilo)
