Recommended advice
A lot of walking on rough rock terrain requires the appropriate footwear. In the time periods when there is snow on Høgetind, be very careful about moving close to the edge. There may be snowdrifts hanging over the edge, that can collapse. From Høgetind you may follow the marked route down to Uskedalen directly, or over Geitadalstind. See separate description.
Overview
Follow the lighted trail (forest road) from the parking lot for 1.2 km on the right side of Lake Bakkastølsvatnet and then along the river to the inner bridge where the signs and markings start. Take care to follow the row of lights where there are forest crossroads. Follow the markings uphill under the powerline and stay left up the hill at Guriflåto. From the end of the tractor road, follow the path along the ridge to the mountain farm house at Dyrrindo. Then turn right behind the cabin and follow the T Markings. The path divides at approx. 800m AMSL, and you may choose the direct route towards the top (sporadically marked with small rock cairns) or the T Marked route via Økteredalstind with a view over Matersfjorden.

From the top, the view is breath taking over the Etne and Kvinnherad mountains, Folgefonna, the Hardanger Fjord and the mountain areas towards Bergen. The steep mountain sides of solid granite towards Uskedalen is a popular climbing area with routes of all degrees of difficulty.
