Description

The coastal path at Østerøya
The coastal path at Østerøya offers 20 km marked trails for walkers. The trail is marked from the throw at the head of Mefjorden and from Røys Loop.

Large parts of the coastal path has its main function as a private road, cabin access or skidding in the agricultural sector. The coastal trail is marked through voluntary agreements with landowners, and the path will be a help for hikers to reach on foot along the coast. The coastal path at Østerøya is an extension of the coastal path on the West Island.

On the tip of Østerøya we find Tønsberg Barrel. There is an old beacon mentioned in Sverre saga. Many ships have sunk off here
