Description

Hurumlandet is beautifully situated at the Drammensfjord and the Oslofjord. Here you will find pleasant beaches, art and culture, farm tourism, golf - and much more!

STAGE 1:
Drammen – Svelvik – Klokkarstua – Holmsbu (25 miles, 45 minutes drive)
Drive Rv 319 from Drammen along the Drammen fjord to the small town of Svelvik. Get on the ferry to Verket in Hurum (5 minutes across the narrow sound). Follow Rv 289 to Klokkarstua and turn south on Rv 281 to Holmsbu. Holmsbu is a typical “southern Norwegian village” with classical white, woodhouse construction. Here you will also find a marina, and – during the summer – lots of people out to enjoy the sea, sun and nice harbour area. Or you can visit Holmsbu Art Gallery, play golf at Myhrene Gård or enjoy a meal at Holmsbu Bad & Fjordhotell.

From Holmsbu you can either drive Rv 281 to Klokkarstua and the coastal road north through Hyggen and E23 back to Drammen, or take Rv 281 to Klokkarstua and then east along Rv 289 to Sætre (by the Oslo Fjord) and then E23 back to Drammen.

If you want to go for a longer trip, we recommend you to try Stage 2:

STAGE 2:
Holmsbu – Rødtangen – Tofte – Filtvet – Sætre (28 miles, 45 minutes drive)
Drive south from Holmsbu to Rødtangen with its beautiful view of the Drammen Fjord. Then go back to Holmsbu and follow Rv 281 to Klokkarstua. Turn south on Rv 281 to Tofte and Filtvet. At Filtvet you can visit the old lighthouse, walk along the beach or enjoy a great delicious meal at Villa Malla. Then drive north along Rv 281 to Sætre, a cosy village by the Oslo Fjord. Sætre also has a marina.

From Sætre you can either go directly to Drammen along E23. Or you can take the coastal road further north, as described in Stage 3:

STAGE 3:
Sætre – Nærsnes – Slemmestad – Drammen (27 miles, 50 minutes drive)
Travel north from Sætre along the coastal highway to Åros, Båtstø, Nærsnes and Slemmestad. Along this road you get a great view of the Oslo Fjord. You can visit the Museum of geology in Slemmestad with their collection of Røyken granite. From there you go back to Drammen on Rv 165 and then Rv 23.
