Brekkestø was originally a temporary anchorage, also for sailing ships laid up for the winter. The story goes that in winter the ships lay so close to each other that you could cross the sound without getting your feet wet.
This trip goes through Blindleia and past places such as Brekkestø, Åkerøya harbour, Kjøpmannsvik and the old outport of Gamle Hellesund.
