The Pilgrims’ Way from Oslo to Nidaros is 640 km long. The pilgrimage goes through built-up areas, stunning cultural landscape, narrow valleys, peaceful forests and open mountain terrain. Along the Way you will experience historical places and cultural heritage sites of national importance.
The island of Andøya is directly situated below the “auroral oval” at night, which makes this the best location to see the spectacular Northern Lights. Researchers and scientists travel here from all around the world. The phenomenon occurs in an oval around the earth’s magnetic North Pole and rotates around it. The clash of solar winds with the earth’s magnetic field pushes the oval towards the dark side of the planet, which rotates around the geographical North Pole.
Among the fjords, through the valleys and on the mountains you find birds nesting in the summertime. We will walk on the biggest bird mountain in the area with beautiful view over Isfjorden.
