With the midnight sun on our bow we glide into the bay, right up to the magnificent Bore Glacier.
Early in the season the sea ice may still lie thick on the fjord, preventing og us from reaching the glacier itself. However, in exchange for this we may be lucky as to see seals sunbathing on the ice under the spring sun which refuses to set.
By the ice we will serve supper from the barbecue.
The Russian mining settlement Pyramiden was abandoned in 1998, leaving the buildings and infrastructure intact. We pass close by the bird cliffs at Diabas before we reach Tempelfjorden and the cathedral-like mountain, Tempelfjellet. We head towards the Nordenskiöldbreen and whilst you enjoy the view, a warm barbequed lunch is served. We investigate the once so well groomed settlement. We follow the north side of the fjord and can reflect over the tragic winter in Svenskhuset at Kapp Thordsen.
