Suohpatjavri Nature and Cultural Trail

This Nature and Culture trail is located 10 km south of the village of Kautokeino. Itis 4.5-km long marked trail with information signs and a picnic area with an earth and turf hut (“jordgamme”), and a probable sacrificial stone, “sieidi”, which is a protected cultural monument. This trail was selected as the Outdoor Area of the Year in Norwegian Lapland in 1997.

The old road to Kautokeino - Masi/Bingis

Starting in Masi, you begin the gentle ascent to the summit/mountain plain. You can spend the night at the Bingis mountain lodge, you must contact the teachers’ association well in advance of your departure: Foreningen Bingis, tel. +47 917 64 031. There is an excellent marked trail from Máze to Raggesluoppal which takes you on to Alta and Karasjok. The old postal route from Beaskades to Ladnatjavri is also a very pleasant trail.
