The Stave - Bleik coastal trail

The Stave – Bleik coastal trail in Andøy is one of the Coastal Trails in Vesterålen. This is a trip with varying degrees of difficulty. The trail stretches over a distance of 9 km through a landscape of beaches, rocky shorelines, hills and mountains. The highest point is Måtind (408 masl), offering a fantastic view out towards picturesque Bleiksøya.


Stone age sites - Sørøya

Sørøya has some of the oldest remnants of human activity in Norway, some of them dating all the way back to 9000 B.C. This means that Sørøya has been inhabited for 11,000 years! Several of the sites are easily accessible from the road.


Suohpatjavri Nature and Cultural Trail

This Nature and Culture trail is located 10 km south of the village of Kautokeino. Itis 4.5-km long marked trail with information signs and a picnic area with an earth and turf hut (“jordgamme”), and a probable sacrificial stone, “sieidi”, which is a protected cultural monument. This trail was selected as the Outdoor Area of the Year in Norwegian Lapland in 1997.

The Old Road in Øksfjordbotn

The Old Road in Øksfjordbotn. Considered a very important cultural monument. Impressive road engineering skills where the landscape and road melt together in such a way that they enrich and compliment each other. The old road is a memorial and testimony to the efforts of the old road builders from 1905-1910. It is rare to find a stretch of road from the turn of the century as well preserved as this. Located in Øksfjordbotn, on the boundary between Alta and the Municipality of Loppa.
