Take a different hiking trip, on the northern side of the Adventfjord.
We cross the Adventfjord by boat and disembark at Revneset. This transfer takes approximately 10 minutes. We then head into Louisdalen towards Carolinedalen. At the top of the valley we turn and make our way up onto Forkastningsfjellet. From here we can enjoy magnificent panoramic views over the Isfjord, stretching from the Nordenskiöld Glacier in Billefjorden to Trygghamna near the west coast.
From Nestesessen you can enjoy the best view of the Nigardsbreen glacier.
Spectacular views of the whole of western Norway await you at the cairn. Below, to the west, lies Skåldalen, the shieling for Åsen farm. With its many rocky and snow-covered sections, the ascent of Vangsen is not for the faint-hearted. Vangsen, Jostedalen’s highest mountain, is easily accessible in the summer thanks to the Vanndalsvatnet access road. The trail is considered one of Norway’s best summit trails for skiers because of the heavy snowfall that lies for a long time. Vangsen means ploughshare, and when you look at the mountain from the bothy at Mannen, the name makes perfect sense.
