At the end of the Longyear valley, there are two glaciers, Lars Breen and Longyear Breen. Longyear Breen have over thousands of years eroded the mountains and pushed the rocks in to a huge moraine in front of the glacier. It is in these rocks we find 40 to 60 million year old plant and animal fossils.
This combined trekking and glacier trip starts in Nybyen. We walk up to the foot of the glacier and start the glacier trekking crossing the Lars glacier. We head towards Trollsteinen (Troll Mountain). A light meal is served.
