The horizontal potholes at Brufjell were created during the Ice Age some 20.000 years ago when the sea level was higher. The potholes lie horizontally 20 meters above sea level and are of various sizes and some are so big that people can climb inside them.
This is a varied walk from sea level to above the tree line with exceptionally fine views over the fjord and the Feigumfossen
waterfall. The route passes the summer farm area Flatningane.
This part of the trail is generally easy and straightforward to go , but can be hilly someplaces . Langesund is well worth a visit before heading out onto the trail.
