This is an excellent walk suitable for most people – all you need is a good pair of walking shoes. The walk is on paths through easy terrain, and takes in forests, mountains, idyllic small lakes and beautiful views.
Festung Norwegen. In 1942, Hitler gave the order to build the Atlantic Wall, a 2.685km, continuous coastal defence that stretched from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Pyrenees in the south. It was built to defend German-occupied Europe against invasion from the British.
The Museum, set in a beautiful maritime area, traces the lives of Øygarden’s coastal inhabitants from the ice age until the present day. The main exhibition, "Sea, Earth, Wind and Fire" examines the use of resources in a typical coastal community over the past 10 000 years.
