The Old Post House Café:
At the beautifully restored Old Post House at Skagen in Bø in Vesterålen there is today a nice café in the authentic environment of the old post office. At the day time café we are serving delicious cakes from Grandma's recipee book. In the evening restaurant you can enjoy home-made food, based on local specialities and fine organic wine.
History is well taken care of at The Old Post House Café, and the house was i 2008-09 restored with support from the Norwegian Cultural Heritage Fund.
We also have 7 rooms for overnight guests and internes access is available in the cafe.
The Restaurant is a pleasant, informal restaurant. We serve coffee, vafles, light snacks and a la carte menu. Our menu features good, homemade food. We also create menus for special celebrations. The restaurant can be booked for private gatherings such as birthdays, anniversaries, company events etc.
Our cafe is open every day until the end of August. opening hours; 12.00-18.00. We serve light lunches, different cakes, ice cream and coffe. On Sundayes we serve treditional Norwegian dinner. Welcome to our smal coffeshop with the greate view.
The Skipnes Fishing Village is located in beautiful natural surroundings that feature the best that Vesterålen has to offer. We serve local food, from fish to whale steak.
Ekspedisjonen restaurant and cafe was established in June 2003 and offers 45 seats in charming surroundings. During the summer, one can enjoy the evening sun out at Nyksund port. The restaurant serves fresh fish from Nordland, homemade cakes and various coffees. It also provides catering throughout the year.
In our restaurant we hold private parties with pre-ordered menu throughout the year.
In our menu you will find organic local cuisine, in short, pure food. That means we do not use pesticides or fertilizers (mineral fertilizer). In summer and autumn we gather berries that are put on the menu. We also offer meat of deer, wild game from the district and selected fish.
Ekspedisjonen Blåbrygga in Sortland is our lunchbar. It is located in the old Hvitbrygga, which is one of the town's oldest docks. In the summertime the lunchbar transforms into one of Sortland's finest restaurants, serving both lunch and dinner. Day and night we offer an inspired menu including local ingredients from land and sea.
Sjøhussenteret is a member the "Arctic Menu" project - a network of 38 enthusiastically run eating houses in North Norway. The object of those participating is to serve both traditional and new dishes based on North Norwegian ingredients and produce, while at the same time promoting local raw materials, products and businesses and providing visitors with a taste of North Norway.
Holmvik Stua in Nyksund focus on traditional and local fish dishes. We are open all year except January, than we have closed.
