Myrhønna, the most distinctive mountain in Jostedalen, is a landmark. For centuries the pyramid-shaped peak, buttressed by the Geisdalsfossen waterfall, has been a popular motif with painters and photographers. From the summit you can see both the Jotunheimen range and the Jostedalsbreen glacier.
Spectacular views of the whole of western Norway await you at the cairn. Below, to the west, lies Skåldalen, the shieling for Åsen farm. With its many rocky and snow-covered sections, the ascent of Vangsen is not for the faint-hearted. Vangsen means ploughshare, and when you look at the mountain from the bothy at Mannen, the name makes perfect sense.
