Rondane National Park is a mountain area between the Gudbrandsdalen and Atndalen valleys. The area stretches from Ringebu in the south to Dovre in the north.
Christianity was introduced to Norway around 1000 AD, and in the years to follow some one thousand stave churches were built. Ringebu Stave Church dates back to around 1220, and is one of the country’s 28 remaining buildings of its kind.

The Norwegian stave churches are, together with the Vikingships Norways, part of the worlds culturale heritage. The museum is located at Ringebu Prestegard 60 km north of Lillehammer.
