At the very top of Gudbrandsdalen, only a few kilometers from Romsdalen, you will find the municipality of Lesja and the village of Bjorli.
  • Geographically, with its 2,253 square kilometers, Lesja is the largest municipality in the county of Oppland.
  • Lesja is located in the valley made by the Lesjaskogsvatnet lake and the rivers Rauma and Lågen to the west.
  • 82 per cent of Lesja's area lies at or over 900 meters above sea level.
  • Lesja has about 2,150 inhabitants. 
  • Lesja has a rich cultural history. There are remains of occupation and hunting dating back to the Stone Age.
  • In the mountains on either side of the valley, there are large groups of reindeer.
  • Lesja has one of the biggest populations of reindeer in Norway.
  • Summer in Lesja is normally warm and dry.
  • Bjorli is a village in Lesja and the municipality's main area with regards to tourism. During the winter it is a popular resort for both alpine and cross-country skiing.
