Getting to Hallingdal and around

The Hallingdal region stretches from Flå in the east to Geilo in west.

Travelling from Oslo - Sandvika to Flå - Nes - Gol - Ål - Geilo

Take the main road from Oslo and drive westwards, following the signs to Bergen. After around two hours and 83 miles, you reach Hallingdal. From there, follow Rv 7 and enjoy the two-hour drive though a valley that consists of 5 municipalities.

Alternative route: From Oslo and Larvik, take Rv 280 or 287 via Drammen through Norefjell/Kunstnerdalen ("The Artists' Valley").

Other main roads

The Hallingdal region is linked to the regions in the north, east and south via E16, E134, Fv 13, Fv 40, Fv 51, Fv 53 and Fv 55. Fv 13 has junctions to Fv 7 at Granvin and to E16 at Voss.

Be prepared for snow at mountain passes from as early as October.

Public transport

Park the car for a couple of days and make use of the public transport available. Both train and busses facilitate your travels in the region.
