Handicrafts

Local food

  • Sour cream and cheese made from cow's and goat's milk, using old and new methods.
  • Veal and mutton, sausages, cured meats, salmon and trout, vegetables, bakery goods (including organic, gluten-free and dairy-free alternatives).
  • Local specialities are sold at farms, shops and restaurants. Try for example Veikåker farm shop and wine cellar in Norefjell. During the summer, there is a Saturday market at Gamle Lærdalsøyri.
  • Hallingkost aims to give people experience with food only available in Hallingdal. Most local food products are organic, and only raw materials with no artificial additives are being used. Products from Hallingkost can be obtained in several grocery stores in Ål, and many of the restaurants in Hallingdal serve Hallingkost products.
