The Viking Ship Olympic Arena
The Viking Ship Olympic Arena in Hamar is a modern, multi-purpose hall with a unique architecture. It was build for the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics. Today the arena plays host to a number of special events, as well as Hamar Tourist Information Office.
Kunstbanken Hedmark Kunstsenter
Kunstbanken Hedmark Kunstsenter (The Art bank) is situated in the Bank of Norway building, dating from 1901. It was founded in 1996 by the artists' organisations in the county of Hedmark and the County Council. Here you can see exhibits of visual arts and art crafts from Norway and abroad.
Norsk Jernbanemuseum (The Norwegian Railway Museum)
At Norsk Jernbanemuseum you will find buildings, locomotives and railway carriage halls. A small narrow gauged steam train and a garden train run during summer.
Løiten Brænderi (aquavit distillery)
Løiten Brænderi is located in Løten. The old distillery houses Løiten Candle Factory; one of the largest producers of handmade candles in Norway. "Gamle Løiten" from Løiten Brænderi, was a highly prized aquavit produced in Løten. Today visitors are treated to a dramatised re-creation of the distillation process.
Norsk Motorhistorisk Museum (The Norwegian Motor Historic Museum)
Norsk Motorhistorisk Museum shows a unique collection of 400 motorized vehicles and machines.
Prøysenhuset
Prøysenhuset is a museum built in memory of the author, songwriter and artist Alf Prøysen. His voice is known to all Norwegians and his fictional character "Mrs. Pepperpot" has been a part of children's literature from Japan to Island, translated into 23 different languages.
Klevfoss Industrimuseum (Klevfoss Industrial Museum)
Klevfoss Industrimuseum is a closed-down chemical pulp and paper mill. The factory is preserved in the state of its closing down in 1976, with machines and equipment in their original places, and with restored apartments from various periods of time in a labourer's dwelling. Handmade paper for sale is also produced, and visitors may by appointment take part in the making of their own paper.
Snilsberg Family Park
Do you want to experience something fun this summer? Take your family to Snilsberg Family Park in Gaupen, Ringsaker. The park offers a green landscape with beautiful picnic areas close to Lake Mjøsa. Children can meet the farm's animals or take part in several activities and events.
Norsk Utvandrermuseum (The Norwegian Emigrant Museum)
Between 1825 and 2000, about 1 million Norwegians emigrated to overseas destinations. Seen as a percent of the total population, no other European country except Ireland had such large numbers of emigrants. The Norwegian Emigrant Museum shows how past generations lived.
