Aukrust Center, Alvdal

Enjoy a journey through the life, literary work and humorous fantasy world of Kjell Aukrust. At the Aukrust Center, you can enjoy the exhibition on Aukrust's childhood years in Alvdal, test your skills as a journalist at Flåklypa Tidende and visit Reodor Felgen's workshop and Nabonissen's house.

Blokkoden Villmarksmuseum, Drevsjø

This open-air museum focuses on how the Sámi people and other settlers made use of Engerdal's natural resources, and illustrates life and work in the area from the 1600s until today. Blokkoden Villmarksmuseum has exhibitions on forestry, hunting and fishing, and its collections include buildings and artefacts from the southern Sámi culture.

Domkirkeodden/Hedmark Museum, Hamar

One of Norway's largest medieval museums, providing an insight into our history from the Viking era, through the Middle Ages and up until today. A glass structure covering the cathedral ruins is the main attraction. The Hedmark Museum comprises 60 antique buildings from the Hedmark villages. Guided tours of the country's largest ecological herb garden are also available.

Glomdal Museum, Elverum

In this open-air museum, which is one of the largest in the country, you can experience life and work at the farms and mountain farms in Østerdalen and Solør over four centuries. During the summer season, the museum is also home to old Norwegian domestic animal species. The Glomdal Museum runs a series of popular family events, such as Activities Indoors, Meet the Animals, Dairy Farm Fun and Christmas at the Museum.

Folldal Mine, Folldal

The mine at Folldal was in operation from 1748 until 1941. On display today is a fully preserved industrial community, featuring 70 buildings as they appeared when the mine closed down. Explore the mine, visit the museum and look around the National Park Visitor Center. At Folldal Mine, you will also find cultural trails, stone shop, geology garden and Rondane Geopark.

Hamar Olympiahall - the Viking Ship Arena, Hamar

A modern, multifunctional arena with a fascinating architecture. Its shape is based on our Viking Ship heritage - functional, elegant and as aesthetically pleasing today as it was a thousand years ago. The Viking Ship Arena was built for the Winter Olympics at Lillehammer in 1994, and is today the country’s national arena for ice skating.

Kongsvinger Fort

The fort is one of the country's most important cultural heritage sites, and is situated high above the old inlet - with Glomma as a moat. It formed a barrier that was never broken, and effectively prevented any advances from Swedish troops. Book a guided tour or walk the Fort Trail, and get to know the surroundings, architecture and history of Kongsvinger Fort. The barracks have been converted to a hotel, and the Commander's Residence is today a restaurant.

Magnor Glassworks, Magnor

Visit Magnor Glassworks, and learn about glassblowing and handmade glass in the making. Explore the exhibitions featuring glass art and tableware. On display in the art museum are nostalgic products from when the glassworks was established in 1896. The factory outlet at Magnor Glassworks is the ideal spot for a bargain.

Norwegian Railway Museum, Hamar

A museum park with station buildings packed with railway history, and the legendary Dovregubben locomotive as one of the attractions. Visit the main exhibition at the Norwegian Railway Museum, and enjoy a short journey through Norwegian travel and railway history.

Norwegian Forestry Museum, Elverum

A national museum dedicated to the history and development of hunting & gathering, fishing, forestry and wood processing. With its exhibitions, open-air museum and activities, the Norwegian Forestry Museum is an exciting day out for the whole family. You will also find a museum shop, Restaurant Forstmann, a library and a gallery at the premises.

Prøysen Museum, Rudshøgda

The Prøysen Museum is a national museum and cultural center, and was established in memory of the writer, artist and individual Alf Prøysen. Alf Prøysen's childhood home, the Cotter's Farm, is open to the public during the summer holidays.
