Getting to the Lillehammer Region and around

The Lillehammer region lies 180 kilometres north of Oslo, and is easy accessible by train, coach and car.

The major railway line "Dovrebanen" and the E6 highway both run through the Lillehammer Region and the Gudbrandsdalen Valley on their way to Trondheim. Public transport is available for travelling within the region.

By air

Oslo Airport Gardermoen is within a two-hour drive from Lillehammer. The trains have a direct connection to Lillehammer. You can also travel by bus or rent a car at the airport.

By train

The Dovrebanen railway line stops in the Lillehammer Region and the Gudbrandsdalen Valley. Once in Lillehammer there are frequent train departures to both Oslo and Trondheim. Rail services run 12 to 18 times daily between Lillehammer and Oslo and four to six times daily to/from Trondheim. The trains are operated by the Norwegian State Railways (NSB).  

By coach

Nor-Way Bussekspress has services to/from Oslo that run three or four times daily.  
 
To/from Western Norway and the fjords, buses call at Lillehammer several times a day. There is also one daily run to/from Bergen.

By public transport within the region

Lillehammer Skysstasjon is the main transport terminal for buses, trains and taxis.

Rail services run four to six times daily north to Hunderfossen, Kvitfjell, Ringebu and Vinstra.

Buses leave Lillehammer town centre about every 30 minutes to most of the local attractions within Lillehammer and Hafjell/Hunderfossen. From Lillehammer there are ski buses going to and from Hafjell, Skeikampen, Kvitfjell and Nordseter/Sjusjøen skiing areas in winter. In summer there are buses going to and from Hafjell, Hunderfossen, Skeikampen and Nordseter/Sjusjøen.

By car

Lillehammer is two hours and 30 minutes from Oslo, five hours from Trondheim and five hours from Ålesund.
