Local produce

The area is famous for its local produce. Here the meat come from lambs which have grazed in the mountains of Hardangervidda, the cured sausages are prepared and stored the traditional way and the accompanying herbal oils, berry vinegars, jams, jellies and flavoursome spice mixes are made locally. Many producers also offer a wide range of venison meats from elk and reindeer. Stop by local farm shops to pick up what you need.

There are several places to dine in Numedal, ranging from pizza to home-cooked meals. Traditional mountain lodges in the area offer hearty meals based on local produce, and the local bakery serves fresh cakes and breads every day.

Well known for delicious food, Lampeland Hotel offers a variety of dining options – à la carte in the restaurant, a caféteria with a selection of lunch and dinner courses or tasty burgers and pizzas.

Stasjonsfruene

This café and gift shop is located in the old Rollag train station on the (now closed) Numedal train line. Serving home cooked meals and cakes, it is the perfect stop for lunch or dinner.
