Sølvstufoss Waterfall

Start your trip at Bårdstangen which offers a marked nature trail, all the way to the waterfall. A bridge over the waterfall makes it possible to cross the river by foot.

The forest of Sarpsborgmarka

There is a large and varied number of hiking trails in the woods surrounding Sarpsborg. All trails are marked, the main trail is lighted at night.

Lake Vestvannet

Vestvannet is a tail of the Glomma River that stretches from the bridge at Trøsken and down towards Eidet. A one hundred year old lumber tunnel is situated at the mouth of Glomma. The tunnel was carved out of the mountain to make floating lumber between the Isnesfjord and Visterflo possible. Vestvannet is ideal for canoeing.

The forest of Skjebergmarka

The areas in the countryside of Skjeberg offer possibilities for experiencing nature and taking hiking trips. Børtevann Café is a natural starting point for many of the hikes.

The Glomma Trail

A walking and bicycle path between Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad makes it possible to experience both sides of the Glomma River. The trail stretches for more than 32 kilometres and offers a variety of sights along the way. You pass by the childhood home of the Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen, the cosy Old Town in Fredrikstad and old sawmills.

Oltidsruta (the Antiquity Route)

Explore this route with a car or bicycle. The Antiquity Route features areas of rock carvings at Hornes, Solberg and Bjørnstad. At Gunnarstorp you can see large standing stones from bronze age. The area around Opstad is one of the largest burial grounds in the country with more than 150 burial places and standing stones placed in circles.
