What to do in Rauland

Rauland offers undisturbed nature, varied hiking trails, great fishing, cycling, horse riding and moose safaris with moose guarantee.

Moose safari in Rauland

Join a guide and driver on a minibus safari at dusk to see the King of the Forest – the moose. Moose have been important for Norwegians since they first arrived here after the last ice age. The moose are active during the day, but they are easiest to spot at dusk and dawn.

Rauland offers a network of more than 90 km (nearly 56 miles) of marked hiking trails with varying in difficulty. The hiking trails lie between 700 and 1,100 above sea level, and are shown on the map "Turkart Rauland" which can be bought at Rauland Tourist Information Office.

The most popular and spectacular hikes are to Falkeriset, Te-hytta and Dansarsteinen.

Try a cycle vacation using Rauland as a starting point, and choose between cycle routes of varying distances and difficulties. Raulandsfjell hires out bikes in the months from May to October, and the tourist office has brochures on cycle routes.

Horse riding

Rauland Ridesenter offers horsemen and women of all ages, from novice to expert, indoor training, outdoor trips, three- and four-day trips, and much, much more.

Accommodation at the centre can be arranged.
