Winter in Rauland

Rauland offers three alpine ski resorts, 150 kilometers of cross-country tracks and fun winter activities such as tobogganing.

Alpine skiing and snowboarding

Rauland has three ski resorts: Vierli Skisenter, Rauland Skisenter and Raulandsfjell Alpinsenter. Rauland also boasts one of Norway's best snowboard parks, Vierli Terrengpark.

There are in total 44 slopes, 17 lifts and one magic carpet for the youngest. 10 black slopes, 18 red, 9 blue and 7 green slopes. A joint ski pass for all three ski resorts makes Rauland the largest alpine destination in Telemark. The free ski bus connects the Vierli Ski resort and Rauland Skisenter.

Vierli Skisenter has five ski lifts and 11 ski slopes of varying difficulties, so whether you are an expert alpine skier or a novice, you will find the right challenge here. Part of Vierli Ski Resort is Vierli Swag Terrengpark, which was recently voted Norway’s top terrain park for snowboard and twin tip by both the Norwegian Snowboard Association and VG newspaper (Norway's second largest newspaper). Evening skiing on floodlit slopes in the park every Wednesday and Saturday from 6 pm to 9 pm. At Vierli Skisenter you will also find  a large toboggan center, with three special toboggan slopes. Here you can hire all the necessary tobogganing equipment.

Rauland Skisenter is perfect for beginners, families and young people. The ski resort covers a large area from Rauland Høgfjellshotell to Holtardalen, and is the largest ski center in Rauland with 26 ski slopes, one magic carpet and nine lifts, including two chair lifts. Here you can ski and explore new slopes the whole day. Evening skiing every Tuesday and Thursday on floodlit slopes from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Raulandsfjell Alpinsenter offers a combination of tough black slopes, red slopes and children slopes. With seven slopes and two lifts, it boasts the steepest and most demanding ski slopes in Rauland. Here you can find top level free riding opportunities. Evening skiing every Monday and Friday on floodlit slopes from 6 pm to 9 pm.

For the children

Vierli Skisenter has its own activity area for the children offering for instance a slow moving ski tow, mogul skiing slopes, jumps, mini rails, children toboggans, trampolines, igloos, Sami tent and good outdoor seating places. The Vierli Adventure Card in the activity area includes three rounds with a mini snowmobile and a four-wheel, mini toboggan and more. Accompanying adults need a lift card. The activities start at 2 pm.

Raulandsfjell Alpinsenter and Rauland Skisenter offer children slopes giving them space to frisk about in the snow, and figures and sticks in the slope make the skiing experience even more fun. Rauland Skisenter also has a magic carpet for the youngest.
