Getting to the Drammen Region and around

The Drammen region lies approximately 25 miles southwest of the capital Oslo. You can easily get to the region by car, bus, train, boat or plane.

The major railway lines all run through the Drammen region, and Flytoget (The Oslo Airport Express Train) has a direct connection to Drammen. The major highways E18, Rv23, E134, and the Oslofjord-connection all meet in Drammen.

The region is located near three international airports, and ferries from Denmark, Sweden and Germany are available within a one-hour drive.

By air

The following airports are available within a one-hour drive from Drammen:

Flytoget (The Oslo Airport Express Train) has a direct connection to Drammen. You can also travel by bus with TIMEkspressen from Oslo Airport to Drammen, Mjøndalen and Hokksund.

By boat

Boats and ferries to and from Denmark, Sweden and Germany are available within a one-hour drive from Drammen:

  • Color Line (Oslo – Kiel in Germany, Larvik – Hirtshals in Denmark, Sandefjord – Strömstad in Sweden)
  • Stena Line (Oslo – Fredrikshavn in Denmark)
  • DFDS Seaways (Oslo – Copenhagen in Denmark)

There are guest marinas in Holmsbu, Slemmestad, Drammen, Mjøndalen and Svelvik, and several other places in the region.

By train

Several of the major railroads in Norway, such as the Bergen Railway, the Sørlandsbanen Railway and the Vestfold Railway, all stop in the Drammen Region. For timetabels and booking, please contact the Norwegian State Railways (NSB).
