Summer activities in Geilo

Hike from the top of Geilolia, join a riding trip, try river rafting in Numedalslågen or go off-road biking - all this is possible in the Geilo area.

Geilolia Summer Park

Geilolia Tree Top Walk, part of Geilolia Summer Park, is one of the largest in Norway, and offers 31 different challenges with varying degrees of difficulty. It includes several zip lines (aerial runways) - one of them is a thrilling 150 metres long.

In addition to the high rope course, the park offers daily activities such as bungee trampoline, canoe and cycle hire, white-water rafting and a children's playground.

Hiking

Geilo has Hallingskarvet as its backbone and Hardangervidda, Northern Europe's largest mountain plateau, as its nearest neighbour. More than 500 kilometres of marked trails allow you to enjoy nature at close range.

The mountain chairlift takes you rapidly up to the top of Geilolia, from where a panoramic view awaits. This is the perfect starting point for walks towards Hallingskarvet.

Cycling

Geilo is good for biking, whether you are into extreme biking, off-road biking or just looking for a gentle family tour.

Rallarvegen is one of the most popular and most scenic bicycle rides in Norway. It takes you from the vast mountain plateau of Hardangervidda right down to Flåm and the Aurlandsfjord, or Voss.

The Geilolia chairlift is open every day in summer until 22 August between 11 am and 4 pm, as well as at weekends and during the Norwegian Autumn holiday.

Bicycle rental, marked tracks and trails, maps and guided trips make Geilo a great destination for mountain cycling adventures.

Fishing

In Geilo, most of the lakes are stocked with trout, but there are also some with Arctic char. The area is home to small idyllic lakes as well as large high mountain lakes. Maps of the various fishing areas can be found at the tourist information.

Riding
