Camping

There are nearly 20 different camp sites in Valdres, and they are easily accessible from the main roads. All are located near rivers, lakes or surrounded by mountains. They vary in size and range of facilities, but most of them have a moderate to high standard. Fagernes Camping was voted "Best Campsite in Norway" by the Norwegian Caravan Club in 2011.

Nature camping

In many areas of Valdres, you can bring your own tent and camp in the wilderness - a good option if you are hiking or cycling for several days. Shelters have been built along some of the most popular trails.

If you want more comfort, stay at one of the Norwegian Trekking Association's (DNT) cabins. You can hike from cabin to cabin in Valdres and Jotunheimen. One such cabin is Fondsbu Tourist Cabin, which is a great starting point for many popular hikes – summer and winter.
