The most popular souvenirs from the region are knitted sweaters and cardigans, pewter, silverware, porcelain, hand-painted or rose-patterned wooden items, goat and reindeer skins, woven wall hangings, furs, handicrafts, glass, crystal and pottery. You can also buy locally made souvenirs directly from several galleries and artists in the region.
If you would like to taste, eat or drink something typical for Romsdal, try "potetball" (dinner made of potatoes), "svele" (a local pancake) or "ananasbrus" (a local pineapple-flavoured soft drink). Like everywhere else in Norway, most shops in Nordmøre and Romsdal are open from Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays. In towns, shops are normally open until 5 pm on weekdays (Monday to Friday), until 7 pm on Thursdays and until 3 pm on Saturdays. Supermarkets and shopping centres mostly stay open until 8 pm on weekdays, and until 4 pm or 6 pm on Saturdays. Many petrol stations also sell groceries and fresh bread round the clock, all week.
