Food in the Stavanger region

Experience the Gladmat Food Festival, or visit the restaurant Tango run by Kjartan Skjelde, one of Norway's best known chefs.

Sun-ripened tomatoes, lamb trotters and other exotic food traditions. Pubs and restaurants with an international flavour - culinary magic with the best local ingredients. Let your taste buds enjoy new discoveries.

The Stavanger region is famous for its culinary diversity. The area is particularly known for shellfishdairy and meatvegetables, especially tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley and potatoes, and fruit. Why not make a stop at Hanasand Gård & Kjøkken for some products made from the farm's very own tomatoes? Their tomato jam is an instant classic.

The Stavanger region is home to the Gastronomic Institute of Norway, and also Måltidets Hus, the national centre for food-related professions.
