Skjomen

A typical ice-eroded fjord, Skjomen is beautiful destination for anybody who enjoys geology, bird watching, history, golf, dramatic scenery and peaceful surroundings.

Narvikfjellet Mountain

A cable car takes you up to the view point on Narvikfjellet, from where you can enjoy magnificent views over the Ofotfjord.

Stetind Mountain

Only an hour away from Narvik by car, you'll find Stetind. The journey from Narvik to Stetind is a fantastic way to experience Ofoten and enjoy the unique landscape and tranquil surroundings.

Ofoten Museum

The Ofoten Museum is situated close to the town center of Narvik. It is located in the old railway administration building that dates back to 1902, and displays exhibitions from the local cultural history.

Rock carving exhibition at the Ofoten Museum

The rock carvings in the Narvik area are about 5,000 years old. At Brennholtet in Narvik a moose is carved into the rock.

The Nordland Red Cross War Memorial Museum

The collections show the Narvik Campaign of 1940, and the town during five years of German occupation, 1940–1945. The museum shows the fighting at sea, on land and in the air, with the participating forces from many nations; British, French, Polish, German and Norwegian. What conditions were like for the civillian population and the many foreign POWs is also presented.

Narvik Church

Narvik Church was consecrated on 16 December 1925. The architect was Olaf Nordhagen and the altar piece was painted by Eilif Pettersen.

Polar Park

See wolves, brown bears, lynx, wolverines, arctic foxes, moose and other animals from the polar fauna. Polar Park, which is one the world's northernmost zoos, lies in the Salangsdalen Valley in Bardu.

Ballangen Museum

Ballangen museum presents the extensive mining activities that have been going on in the borough ever since the 1600’s. The local mining and prospecting operations are documented with the help of exhibits and photos, and Ballangen Museum also displays exhibits showing fishing, agriculture, housekeeping and school and cultural life.

The museum is situated in Bjørkåsen, approximately one and a half miles from Ballangen center. Turn off the E6 at the Statoil petrol station. The road is signposted.

You don't have to go to a gallery in a city or visit other people's indoor art collections to enjoy sculptures. Art can just as well be admired outdoors.

Artscape Nordland is an international art collection where artists from 18 different countries contributed during the period from 1992 to 1998.

This unique collection of international outdoor sculptures can be found in beautiful and varied landscapes in no less than 33 municipalities around the county of Nordland.
