Where to stay in Vesterålen

Stay in a fisherman's cabin, pitch your tent beside the sea or stay in a hotel in the town of Stokmarknes.

Ringstad Sjøhus

Bedded in the characteristic landscape of the outer Vesterålen with its mountain range, moor landscape and multitude of small islands, Ringstad Sjøhus clings onto the side of the Jørnfjord. A quiet wind protected place but still close to the open sea which on stormy days gives its full power against the rocks of the islands.

Offersøy Feriesenter

At Offersøy you can experience deep-sea fishing. You can hire a boat and go out by yourself or go along on a guided excursion with a local skipper who will show you the best fishing spots for large cod. During the autumn it is also possible to go on a killer whale safari in Vestfjord/Tysfjord. At Offersøy Feriesenter you can stay in fishermen’s cabins or in a hotel. There is also a campsite and a guest marina.

Vesterålen Hotel & Congress Centre

Vesterålen Hotel & Congress Centre is located in Stokmarknes. Choose between hotel rooms, fishermen’s cabins, traditional wooden houses and conference facilities. The centre also has a cultural centre, four restaurants and one café. Vesterålen Hotel & Congress Centre comprises two resorts, Hurtigrutens Hus and The Tourist Centre Hotel, each with its unique character.

Skipnes Fishing Village

Skipnes Fishing Village is located on the non-trafficked seaward side of the Vesterålen Islands, well- sheltered in a natural harbour. Experience a close relationship to mountains and fjords, birds and fish, the midnight sun and much more, all in historic and peaceful surroundings. The venerable old fishing village of Skipnes offers rorbu holidays and memorable experiences. Each rorbu (fishermen's cabin) has 3 to 11 beds, a small kitchen and toilet/shower facilities. Boats for hire, fishing, excursions to the old trading station Tinden and an art gallery.

Stø Camping

Stø is an ancient and distinctive fishing village with about 200 inhabitants. Guests will be able to experience many varied activities such as sea fishing, whale safaris, nature walks in the mountains or down by the seashore. There is also a very large seabird and seal colony near the campsite. In walking distance of the Stø Caravan Camp you can visit one of Northern Norway's oldest wooden churches, Langnes Church that dates from the early 1500s.

Hotell Marena

The next time you visit Andøy and Andenes – whether you plan to see the large whales, the grand nature or some of the people who live here – you are welcome to stay at the newest hotel in town – Hotell Marena. The hotel’s street address is Storgata 15, right in the centre of Andenes and within short distance of the bus terminal, airport, the lighthouse, the Whale Centre and the ferry to/from Senja.

Sigerfjord Gjestegård

Sigerfjord Gjestegård offers accommodation in renovated houses originally built in the 1870/1880s. Here you will experience the calm and quiet atmosphere of the seaside. Play golf under the midnight sun, join guided trips to peaks with views or visit the gallery in the former tuberculosis home Lihallen Kulturgård. Sigerfjord Gjestegård also has its own pub down by the fjord.

Andøy Outdoor Center

Andøy Outdoor Center welcomes you to a comfortable, cosy stay in tasteful surroundings. The wilderness cabins are fully equipped for eight people, with sleeping accommodation in two bedrooms, a loft room and on a sofa bed in the living room. The fully-equipped kitchen contains a four-ring electric cooker with an oven, a fridge/freezer and kitchen sink. The cabins are fully winter-insulated and just as comfortable during the winter as in the summer. Andøy Outdoor Center is situated in a large wilderness area, between a fjord and mountains with marshes, forests full of animal and bird life. You can fish for salmon, trout and other fish in the lakes, rivers and fjord, take part in guided trips in the mountains or pick cloudberries on cultivated land.
