The inhabitants of the area eat a lot of fish, and consequently you can get all the delicacies from the sea here. For example, you can enjoy a simple, but tasty, fish dinner at Fiskebrygga Pub & Vinstue in Pollen in Arendal. Or just buy a bag of shrimps and sit down at the quayside and eat them whilst taking in the view. Down at Pollen you can also buy fresh crabs from the boats. If you want more style, you should opt for a gourmet evening at Restaurant 1711, located in Tyholmen, the old town in Arendal.
In Arendal town centre you can eat your way through all the continents of the world. Here you find delicious tapas dishes at Chaos & Tapas, Chinese food at Hong Kong Palace, pizza at Peppes Pizza or Sjøloftet Restaurant and succulent steaks at Big Horn Steakhouse. At Madam Reiersen the menu is varied, and real American fastfood is found at McDonald's in the market square. If you make reservations at Arendal Herregaard at Tromøy, you can look forward to a culinary delight.
At Tromøy, you also find the beautiful Bjellandstrand Farm, which tempts guests with delicious cakes and warm lunches. On Sundays a delicious buffet dinner with flavours from Provence and Tuscany is served here.
You can also enjoy a Sunday buffet dinner at Eikely in Froland.
Are you driving east on E18, you can stop by Englegaard. Here you get food made with love and no shortcuts. At Resort Lyngørporten they arrange various food and wine classes, for small and large groups.
