Kristiansand has a rich and varied selection of indoor and outdoor cafés, restaurants and pubs. In summer the city's bars are open long into the night, and packed with people. Local fish, wild game, plants and berries are the source for tasty, high quality food served in the cafés and restaurants.
For a wide variety of culinary temptations, you should try the restaurant area by the fish market/quayside. It is well worth a visit whether you are looking for a light snack or a three-course dinner.
Norwegian delicacies such as smoked salmon, freshly caught mackerel, fish cakes or filet of moose are offered at the counters of the indoor fish market. Do like the locals, buy a bag of fresh shrimps or a basket of locally grown strawberries, and enjoy them sitting at the quayside.
The modern restaurant Bølgen og Moi tempt guests with a fantastic view from the quayside and a delicious meal. Here one of the most well-known artists in Norway, Kjell Nupen, has decorated the walls and place-mats.
Måltid specialises in fresh, local food. The ingredients here come from small independent producers solidly rooted in their local community.
Tilstede offers a relaxed atmosphere and real food made from local, organic ingredients.
Bakgården Bar in the middle of Kristiansand is the region's leading cocktail bar and employs a team of world-class bartenders. Give the place a try!
