Rjukan, Gaustatoppen Mountain, Tuddal and Åmotsdal

The Gaustatoppen Mountain (1,883 metres above sea level) and the Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum are among the main attractions in the town of Rjukan.

In Tuddal and Åmotsdal valleys on your way back you will pass several art museums and handicraft exhibitions. Total driving distance: 183 kilometres (approximately a three-hour drive).

Dalen and Eidsborg

Attractions: The old copper mines at Åmdals Verk Gruver, the imposing Dalen Hotel, dating from 1894, Eidsborg Stave Church, Lårdal Rural Museum and Øyfjell Rural Museum. Total driving distance: 118 kilometres (approximately a two-hour drive).

Over Haukelifjell to Røldal

The E134 trunk road from Drammen to Haugesund, through the mountain pass at Haukelifjell, takes you to Røldal at the foot of Hardangervidda, one of Europe’s largest mountain plateaus. Røldal village is the site of a well-known stave church dating from the fourteenth century. It is also possible to drive along parts of the old road, going outside the tunnels. Total driving distance: 194 kilometres (approximately a three-hour drive).
