The magnificent and ever changing scenery in Telemark is made for skiing and will provide enjoyment for the whole family. But winter wonderland Telemark can also offer a variety of fun and exciting activities in the snow, in addition to skiing.

Rjukan and Gaustablikk

Rjukan is situated in the midst of dramatic and magnificent surroundings in the north of Telemark. Winter activities in Rjukan and Gaustablikk include ice climbing, ski sailing, sled rides, ice fishing and dogsled racing. Off-piste skiing from Gaustatoppen is popular for experienced skiers. Rjukan is situated on the edge of the Hardangervidda, which offers endless opportunities for cross-country skiing.

Vrådal

Try alpine skiing and snowboarding at Vrådal Panorama Ski Centre, or cross-country skiing in the mountains and forests surrounding Vrådal. Vrådal Panorama Ski Center is one of Telemark's largest ski centers, with five lifts and 15 slopes. An eight-seat chair lift ensures there are no long lift queues. Other activities include sleigh rides, horse riding in the woods, and organised snowshoeing excursions.

Rauland and Haukeli

Rauland and Haukeli have some of the best cross-country trail networks in Norway - 200 kilometers of groomed tracks await here. The skiing season normally lasts from December to April. Rauland has long been a popular winter destination for the whole family. If you do not want to ski, Rauland offers activities such as snow scooter trips, snow rafting, horse riding, kiting, dog sledding and ice fishing, as well as boasting one of Norway's best snowboard parks. And for those of you just looking to unwind in beautiful surroundings there is also a mountain spa to relax in.

Lifjell

For Telemark skiing or just hiking, Lifjell is a real pearl with its many kilometers of trails winding through forests and open areas. Lifjell Skisenter has various downhill skiing possibilities (including off-piste skiing). In Lifjell there is also a ski resort especially for children that offers slopes for children and beginners for slalom and snowboarding, as well as easy cross-country tracks.

Morgedal

Morgedal is famous for being "the cradle of modern skiing". It was in Morgedal that Sondre Norheim developed skis that could twist and turn, and invented the heel bindings. His old cottage is open for visitors. Norsk Skieventyr /ski museum is also located in Morgedal, and shows the development of skiing through the ages.
