Getting to the Arendal Region and around

Take the bus from Kristiansand, Kristiansand Airport Kjevik or Oslo, or drive your car along E18. Even the train brings you to the Arendal Region.

By aeroplane

Kristiansand Airport Kjevik
Kristiansand Airport Kjevik lies 69 kilometres from Arendal. The Airport Express Coach takes you to/from the airport and Arendal. From Arendal there are buses to Tvedestrand, Risør, Åmli and Vegårshei.

Sandefjord Airport Torp 
Take a bus or a taxi from Torp Airport Sandefjord to the place Fokserød by the E18, where there is a bus connection with the buses going between Oslo and Sørlandet (Southern Norway).

Arendal is located about 150 kilometres from Sandefjord Airport Torp. Risør and Tvedestrand are located by the coast, and have bus connections from the E18 and down to the coast.

By ferry

The coastal ferry routes to Southern Norway starts at Hirtshals in Denmark and ends in Kristiansand. The Color Line "Superspeed" ferry only takes three hours and 30 minutes. This route has two departures daily. In summer the Fjord Line ferry "Master Cat" takes 2 hours and 30 minutes. There are also several ferry departures from Denmark to Langesund and Larvik.

By bus

There are several bus companies operating in the area.

Nettbuss/Sørlandsekspressen (drives between Kristiansand and Oslo)
There are departures to and from Oslo/Kristiansand up to nine times a day with Nettbuss / Sørlandsekspressen. The bus stops by the E18, and there are bus connections from this main road down to Risør, Tvedestrand and Arendal town centres. Tickets can be bought on the bus or at nettbuss.no.

NOR-WAY Bussekspress

Nor-Way Bussekspress operates busses with departures between Oslo, Kristiansand and Stavanger. 

Konkurrenten
There are several departures to and from Oslo/Kristiansand each day. Arendal is about 255 kms west The bus stops by E18, and you can take a taxi down to Risør, Tvedestrand and Arendal town centres.

By car

From Oslo, drive south on the E18 towards Kristiansand. The distance between Oslo and Arendal is 260 kilometres, and the estimated driving time is around 3 hours and 30 minutes.

From the west, for intance Kristiansand, drive east on E18. The distance fromKristiansand to Arendal is 69 kilometres, and the estimated driving time is around 1 hour.

There are exits from E18 to most towns and villages in the Arendal Region -Arendal, Risør and Tvedestrand. To drive to Åmli, exit at Fianesvingen (20 kilometres east of Arendal) and follow rv. 415 to Åmli. To drive to Vegårshei, exit E18 at Fianesvingen, and follow rv. 415 and then rv. 414 to Vegårshei.
