There are possibilities for camping with caravans, trailers and tents throughout Norway. Along the coast and by lakes are good places to find campsites, but you will find them in the mountains and wilderness and inland areas, too. Find a list of campsites.
Only four campsites have so far received a five-star ranking by NHO Reiseliv (Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise), the latest only as recently as 2013.
The coveted award most recently went to Hallingdal Feriepark (Hallingdal Holiday Park) in Eastern Norway, which can offer 20 luxurious cabins as well as up to 180 spaces for caravans and mobile homes. While standards are high, the park's focus is not on idle time but on activities. Zip-lines, petting-zoo, climbing walls and a giant multi-level playground are just some of the possibilities on offer. Alternatively you can go canoeing or on an ATV-safari and end a busy day with a massage at the spa and a meal at the park's restaurant.
Hallingdal Feriepark is open all year round and is situated close to the half-way point between Bergen and Oslo, a convenient spot for a day of rest and recreation on your way east or west.
In 2014, Hallingdal Feriepark was awarded a full score of 5 out of 5 points by the ECC. According to Camping News magazine, this makes it the first and only ECC "top spot" in Norway. A total of 5500 campsites in Europe were reviewed and only 197 of these were awarded "top spot" status.
Another five-star campsite is Kristiansand Feriesenter near Kristansand in Southern Norway. The facilities include space for up to 250 tents or caravans, as well as a variety of cabins and rooms with a combined capacity of some 200 guests. Situated by the sea, the site's available activities include scuba diving, kayaking, and boat rental. In case of adverse weather, you can stay indoors and enjoy the sauna, hot tub, or perhaps a massage.
Founded in 1929 and is still one of the best in Norway, Moysand Familiecamping is still run by the same family that started it some 80 years ago. Both the site and the facilities have received major upgrades, which led to their five-star award. Of particular pride for the owners are the shop and the kitchen, not to mention the campsite's own beaches.
Moysand Familiecamping can be found in Grimstad in Southern Norway, a short drive away from Kristiansand Dyrepark (Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park).
Sølvgarden Hotell & Feriesenter

A visit to the traditional silversmithy the hotel takes its name from is another possibility.
