1816 - exceptionally, melodious, beautiful and unique
The band 1816 is a collaboration between vocalist Wenche Losnegård and bassist Audun Ellingsen, who both have broad experience from Norwegian jazz and improvisation music. With 1816, the two songwriters weave together a captivating musical universe. With them they also have Gregor Riddell (cello) who has played with Radiohead and Erik Nylander (drums) among others.
In 1816 his first album was released in March 2018 for radiant criticism and is now out on the road with this material. From the history books 1816 is known as the year without summer, and 1816 is a band that explores the darkness of all of us, with a contrast-filled, wide-ranging sound image. Heavy grooves and dark sounds balance the lighter melodies and create an interesting universe. The music is mainly inspired by jazz, chamber music, people and pop. 1816 has been referred to as the sound of Bjørk and Keith Jarrett, composing for Rickie Lee Jones and a small chamber orchestra.
