A truly sparkling season opening, with both a first performance and a re-performance of timeless favorites, and not least the first concert with our brand new chief conductor, Adam Hickox!

We present a brand new concerto for Hardanger fiddle composed by our own hometown boy, Kim André Arnesen. The concert has been commissioned by the versatile virtuoso, Ragnhild Hemsing, who is leading the way in finding new possibilities and combinations for this venerable Norwegian folk instrument.

Mussorgsky's magical and colorful Pictures at an Exhibition is a musical journey through some of the paintings and drawings of the Russian artist Victor Hartmann. The work captures a richness of tone and vitality that is truly brought to life in Ravel's masterful orchestral arrangement.

The concert opens with Ravel's choreographic tone poem, La Valse – a swirling, waltzing, shimmering danse macabre. This is a season opener you can't miss!
