Amalie Leirvik + Øiseth & Pavlovic
A singer/songwriter with impulses from jazz, folk and folk music + trumpet/ French horn & accordion in free flow!
Amalie Leirvik is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Trondheim. She draws inspiration from songwriters and communicators such as Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, Maro, Nico, Eva Cassidy and Susanne Sundfør and would describe her own music as organic and melodious, where text and communication are central.
Through present storytelling, polyphonic singing, playful arrangements and harmonies, Amalie Leirvik and her band seek to convey music that is both interesting and accessible at the same time.
With her in the band is Herman Wildhagen on pedal steel and chorus, Gard Kronborg on bass and chorus, Tuva Halse on violin and chorus, Håkon Brunborg on viola and guitar and August Glannestrand on drums.
Hildegunn Øiseth plays trumpet and French horn and draws inspiration from several regions after many travels and long stays in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. She has developed her own technique for the buckhorn. This has opened new doors for the traditional instrument.
For the past 20 years, Hildegunn has been a freelance jazz musician, but previously she was employed in one of Europe's leading big bands, the Bohuslän Big Band. Hildegunn is now working on her 7th solo album. She can often be heard in larger jazz ensembles, but the project HILDEGUNN PLUSS consists of various duo constellations, for example with cultural award winner Jovan Pavlovic who was Trondheim's city artist in 2020 - the same year he released a critically acclaimed solo album.
Jovan Pavlovic is a Serbian-Norwegian folk and jazz musician who spices up and lifts the music to new heights with his rhythmic and harmonic creativity. He is educated in classical music at the Musikkonservatoriet in Trondheim, with folk music from the Balkans and the Roma people as his main field. He has a unique way of combining elements from jazz, classical and traditional music.
