Are Kalvø - Only farmers long for home
🔥 Ticket sales start on 30 November at 10:00!
Are Kalvø has been a comedian for quite a few years. He has lived for even more years. And in all these years there is one conflict that always returns: City against country. Such conflicts have created a bad atmosphere for as long as Kalvø has lived, in various ways, both in Norway and in other countries: Center against outskirts. Elite against people. The time has come to put these conflicts behind us and rather use our time to solve the big problems in the world. The time has come to build a bridge between city and country. And get this over with, once and for all.
And who is a more natural bridge builder than Are Kalvø? He has one foot in each camp. He grew up in the countryside, he lives in the city. He is a city lover who writes Nynorsk and speaks dialect. He can understand and talk to both sides. Maybe even like both sides.
In order to really understand what such conflicts are about, Kalvø has lived for a month in Europe's largest city London, a noisy, confusing, self-satisfied and far too large metropolis in the homeland of elite thinking, and for a month in Norway's smallest municipality Utsira, an island without a mainland connection, with two hundred inhabitants on a good day, and mostly stiff gales. He has lived with vegans in bicycle helmets and fishermen in thermal suits, he has talked about motorbikes and modern dance, he has lost ferries and hope. But he has managed. And he has done it for us. Now he is back to tell the story. And build a bridge. And if it doesn't work, to establish once and for all: What is best, city or country?
Are Kalvø has written and performed humor and satire in many different ways for many years. He has toured Culture Center Norway before, and likes it very much, with his three solo performances "Kalvø - an hour of life you never get back" (Komi prize 2015), "Toppar VG-lista" and "Hyttebok frå helvete", based on the book of the same name, which topped the bestseller lists in Norway for thirty weeks and has been translated into twelve languages. He has also written several other best-selling humor books, such as "The South", "Harry" and "The Bible 2".
Are Kalvø is looking forward to finally embarking on a tour with material that is actually about absolutely all the places he visits on the tour.
