Double bass as a solo instrument is still considered a curiosity in the world of jazz, and there aren't many musicians who have worked regularly with the concept. One exception is Arild Andersen, who has toured with his bass around the world. As early as in the 80s, he started to experiment with sampling/looping techniques to expand the expression of a simple bass tone to multiple layers of sound. He connects these machines closely to the very core of jazz - improvisation. When he enters stage, nothing is pre-programmed.
Don't miss this opportunity to experience one of the world's foremost bass players alone on stage at the 2018 Oslo Jazz Festival.
