Artist talk: Anne Helga Henning and Elena Perez
What is the role of play when inviting participants into a work of art? How can one invite participants in a way that is open ended and seductive but that at the same time has a clear purpose and direction? What is exactly an “Atelierista” and what is the state of the art of this new profession in society today?
These are some of the questions that we will touch upon, among others, at the discussion between Anne Helga Henning and Elena Perez. The discussion will be moderated by Sophia Efstathiou, researcher at the department of Applied Ethics at NTNU. This conversation is organized as part of Anne Helga Henning´s exhibition Could this be a door? (Kan dette være en dør? ) at Trondhjems Kunstforening from 24.08 – 24.09 2017. It will take place in English.
Anne Helga Henning (born 1968) is a visual artist living and working in Trondheim. Henning focuses on two lines of work: drawing/installation and sculpture, and socially-engaged art, through her work as an artist in public institutions such as kindergartens schools or health institutions. She received training as an Atelierista from the Reggio Emilia Institute in Stockholm, and specializes in using aesthetic processes to enter the explorative processes of children, students and patients.
Elena Perez (Madrid, 1978) is the artistic director or Trondhjems Kunstforening. She has a background from academia in contemporary theatre and performance, and its convergence with technology, visual art and gaming. She has investigated socially engaged art practically, through the creation of participatory performance, and theoretically, through the publication of several articles in the topic in scientific publications as well public talks.
