Overview

On Life and Death is a concert performance with baroque violin sonatas played on original instruments and talk around the theme of illness and accidents in the 18th century.

The project's initiator, Maren Elle, is a regular violinist in the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra and Barokkanerne. She is joined by Christian Kjos on harpsichord and Gunnar Hauge on baroque cello / gambe. Kjos and Hauge are also permanent members of Barokkanerne, and are among the foremost practitioners in their field in the country.

They have put together a varied program with musical contrasts and great emotions. Doctor and historian Anne Helene Kveim Lie discusses the following questions: What was it like to be a poor musician in the 18th century? What kind of accidents and illnesses could they be affected by?
