BFK | 06.11.2024 | Salut les Cubains (1963)

In Salut les Cubains Agnès Varda paints a picture of a post-revolutionary Cuba where the people are front and center. She uses more than 1500 still images to form a montage that coalesces into a beautiful portrait of a nation and its people. One of these people is the 18 year old Sara Gómez. Varda allows her to close the film with a dance captured in still images that through the film's rhythm and tempo reverberates with life.
