Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band

Register

The irresistible magic of evolutionary travels in jazz, gospel and rock.

A jazz fair and celebration led by one of the biggest names in American jazz today!

For more than 25 years, between concerts and recordings with artists such as Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau, John Scofield, Bob Dylan and Norah Jones, drummer Brian Blade has regularly returned ‘home’ to his own The Fellowship Band. The fabulous Kurt Rosenwinkel has replaced guitarists Jeff Parker and Dave Easley when they left for other jazz fields, but otherwise the band is rock solid. The two saxophonists Myron Walden and Melvin Butler, pianist Jon Cowherd and bassist Chris Thomas have, together with Blade, continued to develop the magic that has carried the band ever since the self-titled debut disc from 1998.

The music is built on a foundation of jazz and gospel, driven forward in time by the fantastic musicians' own symbiosis. There are large spaces of calm, devotion and beautiful interplay. It sounds both fluid and fearlessly pompous at the same time, very rhythmically exciting of course, since we are dealing with one of today's most influential drummers. Last year's album Kings Highway is equal parts spirituality and hope for mankind, and is a great affair that you can look forward to hearing.

Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band is American jazz at its best, a band that revels in history and brings it up to the present day.
