BTHVN2020: Fidelio in sign language

Fidelio is an opera for the people, it is a portrait of small people who do great things. For example, a woman disguised as a man, trying to free her husband from political captivity. It is a story of idealism, opposition to tyranny and of marital fidelity. Where other operas slip into intimate intrigue and irrational emotions, Beethoven celebrates the universal principles of humanism.

In this compressed production, we get Florestan's memories and dreams conveyed in sign language by actors from Teater Manu. The fight for freedom and love will be carried forward by the music, performed by the Opera Choir and musicians from the Opera Orchestra.
