Bysommer: Noora Noor

Register

Hear Norwegian artist Noora Noor at SALT!

At the age of eight, Noora Noor and her family came to Holmlia in Oslo from the United Arab Emirates. It soon became clear that she could sing, and at the age of 15 she signed with Warner Music. Her debut album was produced by Stargate. That's when she really became known in Norway under the name Noora, but also via channels such as MTV, where her videos were frequently played.

Noora says it's on stage that she feels at home, and repeatedly receives rave reviews for her concerts. She has played at festivals such as Øya, Notodden Blues Festival, Sildajazz, Kongsberg Jazz Festival and international festivals such as Notting Hill Festival in London. Noora has fans all over the world, but especially in the Netherlands, Eastern Europe and Turkey, and her songs have been streamed over 30 million times on YouTube.

Noora Noor received a six in VG for her album ‘Soul Deep’ and won the Spellemann Award for this album as best female artist. This album marked a shift for Noora Noor towards neo-soul with strong threads to traditional soul that suits her enormous voice well.

After a long period of silence, she is finally back with new music this autumn and a selection of concerts.

Throughout July, you are invited to experience some of Norways best and most prominent artists in idyllic surroundings at the dock. Cultural venue SALT has created the concert series Bysommer (which loosely translates to “Summer in the city”) to celebrate the city of Oslo and bring positive energy to the hot summer nights.

At SALT, you will also find a large outdoor serving with sun all night, food stalls and bars – and several saunas! During the weekends, there are also DJs playing at the outdoor serving. Enjoy good music, food, drinks and the spectacular view of the Oslo fjord and Opera House as the sun sets!
